Plain answer
How do I prepare for the ISO 29148 revision?
Prepare the work that is right under either edition: complete the four information items, make every requirement well formed, add owners and verification methods, maintain traceability and configuration control, and record the edition each document cites. Then update the references when the new edition is published.
Start with the current record
Read the clause pages and mark the gaps an assessor would find today. A missing SRS on a 12207 project, an unresolved To Be Specified item, a requirement with no owner or verification method, and a change with no impact assessment are current defects, not future risks.
Complete the information items
Make sure the BRS, StRS, SyRS and, where 12207 applies, the SRS exist as baselined items with the clause 9 content. Where an item is combined with another, record the section mapping. Where a model holds the content, record how a reviewer can extract it.
Put the set under control
Identify the configuration items and the baselines. Record the owner, version, priority, risk, rationale, difficulty, type and verification method for each requirement. Maintain traceability down, up, to the architecture and to verification. Keep the change record with the baseline version.
Put the dates in the plan
Choose a planning date, name the owner and the next review, and record the ISO stage you are watching. The free check returns the first version of that plan; the kit gives the register and the dated plan in the formats a project uses. The site estimate is 12 September 2027 and is labelled an estimate.
