Requirements readiness check
Answer six questions about the project and the requirement set. The check returns the process set that applies, the information items you are missing, a readiness reading with the three actions that matter most, and a dated plan to the edition change. It is computed by rule from this record and the dates you enter.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148:2018, second edition
That is the edition a project is assessed against on the record date, 19 October 2026. The DIS does not change it until the third edition is published. The planning date is an estimate, not a deadline.
What the check applies
| Input | How it is used | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Framework | 15288, 12207 or both selects the process wording and whether the SRS is required. "Not sure" returns scope incomplete and names the question. | 29148:2018, 6.1 and 7 |
| Information items | A missing BRS, StRS, SyRS or SRS is named. A full conformance claim cannot be made while one is absent. | 29148:2018, 7 and 9 |
| Conformance claim | A contract or internal claim makes the record an obligation. Guidance use changes the consequence, not the good practice. | 29148:2018, 4.2 and 4.5 |
| Owner and verification | Missing ownership or verification method is the first gap, because the set cannot be managed or verified without them. | 29148:2018, 5.2.8 and 6.5.2 |
| TBx | Open To Be Defined, Specified or Resolved items prevent a set from being called complete. Managed items with dates score better than an unmanaged list. | 29148:2018, 5.2.6 |
| Planning date | The date is compared with the estimate and with today. It sets the plan, not a deadline. | ISO page 94091; this record |
A blank or impossible answer returns "scope incomplete" and names what is missing. The check never guesses a lighter pathway.
What the check does not do
- It does not audit the requirement set or decide whether it conforms.
- It does not replace the published standard or the process framework it cites.
- It does not decide a contract question about which edition applies.
- It does not certify anything or give legal advice.
The rules this is built from
Every line names its source. The 60 records are written from the published ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148:2018, in our words, with the clause cited. The revision layer is read from the public ISO stage record and its scope abstract. Where the public record is silent, the page says so.
Clause by clause, and the information items
Each page states the requirement in our words, the evidence an assessor asks for, the common gaps and what to do before the edition changes.
