For the requirements lead on a 15288 or 12207 project
The requirements standard is changing. Know what applies now.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148:2018 is the edition your project is assessed against today. The third edition is at DIS ballot. This site states the current obligation clause by clause, separates what the public record proves about the revision from what it does not, and gives you a dated plan.
Read from the real rules, not invented. Every answer this site gives points to the official rule behind it, so you can check any line yourself.

Edition 3 at DIS ballotIs the requirement set ready for the edition change?
Six questions. The check returns the process set that applies, the information items you are missing, a readiness reading and three actions. It runs in the browser and sends nothing.
Readiness, not conformity
It applies the published process set, the information item list and the dates you enter. It does not audit the requirements, does not decide whether a contract claim is met, and does not replace an assessor.
The requirements that apply today
These are the clauses of ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148:2018, plus the information item content in clause 9 and Annex A. Each has its own page with the requirement in our words, the evidence an assessor asks for, the common gaps and what to do before the revision.

What the public record shows, and what it does not
Edition 3, stage 40.20
ISO records a DIS of 101 pages, prepared by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 7, with the ballot initiated on 14 September 2026 for 12 weeks. It will replace the 2018 edition.
Read the stage recordThe scope is unchanged
The public abstract repeats the same four purposes: the processes, the guidelines for 15288 and 12207, the information items, and their content and format.
What the record showsThe clause text and change list
ISO sells the draft. There is no public clause level change list. This site does not invent one, and says so on every page that touches the revision.

The rules this is built from
Every line names its source. The 55 records are written from the published ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148:2018, in our words, with the clause cited. The revision layer is read from the public ISO stage record and its scope abstract. Where the public record is silent, the page says so.
Clause by clause, and the information items
Each page states the requirement in our words, the evidence an assessor asks for, the common gaps and what to do before the edition changes.

What buyers ask
What is ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148?
It is the international standard for requirements engineering. It specifies the requirements processes used with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 and 12207, the information items those processes produce, and the required content of those items. The second edition is the published edition that applies today. A third edition is at DIS ballot. Read the revision record.
Does the DIS change what my project must do today?
No. A draft cannot be cited as the applicable standard and cannot be certified against. The published second edition applies until the third edition is published. The draft is a planning signal, not a current obligation. The stage record says what is confirmed and what is not.
When will the third edition be published?
ISO has not recorded a publication date. The draft is at stage 40.20, with the ballot initiated on 14 September 2026 for 12 weeks. This site uses 12 September 2027 as a planning estimate and labels it an estimate everywhere. The next public checkpoints are 40.60, 40.99, 50.00 and 60.60.
What does the change mean for an SRS or a SyRS?
The public abstract keeps the same scope: the processes, the information items and their content. The DIS requirement text is not public, so this site does not claim a clause level change. The practical work is to make the current set meet the 2018 content requirements and to keep the clause references under review. The register shows the current obligations.
Is ISO 29148 certifiable?
No. It is a process and information item standard, not a management system standard with a certification scheme. A project can claim conformance, in a contract or an internal procedure, and an assessor can examine the evidence. That is different from a certificate. The site does not certify anyone.
What do I get for USD 149?
The obligation kit: the full 55-record register, the 220-item evidence list and a dated plan, as PDF, CSV and XLSX. The labelled specimen shows the shape. The pricing page states what is free. The change watch is USD 19 a month and emails you when the record, its guidance or its dates change.
Where the record comes from
The requirement record is read from the published ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148:2018, checked on 19 October 2026. The revision record is the ISO standard page 94091, retrieved on 19 October 2026. It is not written from memory or from a search snippet. Where the public record does not show a change, the page says so rather than inventing one. Read the sources and the method.
